Adrian Hobart was born and brought up in Cambridge, UK. Storytelling is in his blood, honed as a guide on open-top bus tours around the city, sharing facts and fabricating folklore to entertain tourists in the inevitable traffic jams. Somehow, he found himself at Exeter University to study ancient history but could mainly be found in the dingy confines of the student radio station, University Radio Exeter. Falling in love with radio, he then studied broadcast journalism at Cardiff University before joining the BBC in 1995.

He worked in Brighton for several years before joining BBC World Service Radio Sport in London, then TV Sportsnews, before migrating to Salford in 2012 where he was the BBC Global Sport Assistant Editor running a team of forty journalists and broadcasters. He left the BBC after twenty-five years to set up independent publisher, Hobeck Books, with his partner Rebecca Collins. They live in Staffordshire, with three of their five sons, and two permanently hungry and vocal cats. 27 Church Street: The Gathering Storm is his first novel.
